Antimicrobial resistance: Is there a role for probiotics?

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when certain microbes, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites, evolve over time and no longer respond to antimicrobial medicines.(1) As a result, infections can persist in the body, increasing the risk of spread to others, severe illness and death.
